Interplanetary Shock (or CME Arrival)
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Location: Earth
Event Time: 2026-09-06T20:40Z ( SOLAR-1: MAG )
All Detecting Spacecrafts:
SOLAR-1: MAG
ACE: SWEPAM
ACE: MAG
SOLAR-1: SWiPS
IMAP: MAG
IMAP: SWAPI
Activity ID: 2026-09-06T20:40:00-IPS-001 (version 2)
Quality of ICME Signature: -1 (unspecified)
Note: Characterized by an amplification of magnetic field components with Btotal increasing from 6nT at 2026-09-06T20:40Z to 17nT at 2026-09-07T10:41Z. An increase in density is observed alongside the amplification of magnetic field components, with density increasing from ~4 p/cc at 2026-09-06T20:40Z to 27 p/cc at 2026-09-07T10:36Z. This interplanetary shock is likely associated with the arrival of a corotating interaction region preceding a coronal hole high speed stream. The high speed stream signature is observed starting around 2026-09-07T06:06Z, characterized by an increase in velocity, from 338 km/s at 2026-09-07T06:06Z to ~500 km/s at 2026-09-06T12:02Z, and an increase in temperature, from ~46,000 K at 2026-09-07T06:06Z to ~480,000 K at 2026-09-07T12:03Z. This signature is still developing and analysis is ongoing.
